Group exercise classes at North Penn YMCA are a great way to stay fit and connect with friends and expert instructors. Classes operate on a scheduled basis. Active Chair Yoga | All levels This class is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting in a chair and standing using a chair for support. This practice can improve flexibility, strength, balance and concentration while boosting your mood and reducing stress and joint strain. Class flows with intention linking the breath to movement. Sneakers required.
All in One | All levels A full body workout that has strengthening for all body parts and low impact cardiovascular workout. Sneakers required.
All That Strength | All levels A full-strength body workout. This class may use free weights, bars, tubing and a step. Don’t forget your towel, water and yoga mat. Sneakers required.
AOA (Active Older Adult) Body Toning | A fun mix of dynamic sequences and static exercises designed to work on balance, muscle endurance, mobility and agility. Small equipment such as stability balls and hand held weights will be used during this class.
Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program | All levels This class is designed for people with arthritis who want to safely increase their physical activity levels. The program may also benefit people with other chronic health conditions who want to be more active. Sneakers required.
Ball Stability | All levels | Active Adult This class focuses on the basics of balance and core strengthening. Chair may be used. Sneakers required.
Barre & Dance Blend | All Levels This fitness dance class incorporates Barre principles and a fusion of jazz and modern dance techniques. Barre work, Core work, floor work, a sprinkle of cardio and a whole lot of fun! Sneakers optional.
Barrelates | All levels Pilate’s principles will be enforced. You will work on control, centering, flow, balance and concentration standing holding on to a chair and incorporating mat work with the use of light hand weights, stability balls and small balls. Sneakers optional.
BodyBalance | All levels Ideal for anyone and everyone, LES MILLS BODYBALANCE ® is a new generation yoga class that will improve your mind, your body and your life. You can expect to bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves, elements of Tai Chi and Pilates while an inspiring soundtrack plays in the background. Sneakers optional.
Body Shaping | All levels This class is designed to tone and strengthen every muscle in your body. This class may use a variety of equipment. Sneakers required.
Butts ‘n Guts | All levels This class is a special focus class just for your lower body! Sculpt, shape, and strengthen your abdominal, buttock, and thigh muscle groups in this targeted, high-impact workout. This class will strengthen and tone all your core muscles, working on the back, butt and thighs in particular. Sneakers required.
Cardio Drumming | All levels Cardio drumming is a high-energy, full-body workout that combines rhythmic drumming movements with cardio exercises, using drumsticks to hit a stability ball while following the beat of music, allowing participants of all fitness levels to engage in a fun and dynamic workout that improves coordination, cardiovascular health, and upper body strength, all while having a great time; no prior drumming experience is needed. Sneakers required.
Cardio Interval | All levels Workout offers standing, low-impact choreography alternated with standing upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball. A chair is available for standing support. Sneakers required.
Cardio Fusion | Beginner, Intermediate | Active Adult This class is a dance-inspired workout to challenge cardio fitness with easy-to-follow movement patterns. Sneakers required.
Cardio Step and Tone – An energetic cardio and toning class using the step and small for equipment to increase not only your metabolism but also your resistance to fatigue.
Cardio Tone | All levels | Active Adult This class combines fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength works using hand-held weights.
Couch to Fitness | Beginner – Jumpstart your fitness journey! Perfect for beginners and those returning to exercise, this class gently builds stamina and strength through low-impact cardio workouts designed to get you moving and feeling great. With supportive instructors and a welcoming atmosphere, you’ll gain confidence as you improve your fitness at a pace that’s right for you. Join us to take the first steps toward a healthier, more active lifestyle. No experience needed! Sneakers required.
Cycling | All Levels Awesome music and great instructors set the pace for this terrific aerobic workout on stationary bikes. Climb hills, sprint, race and more in a group setting – fun and challenging whether you are a new rider or cycling enthusiast.
Fast ‘n Furious | Int-Adv A boot camp-style class that includes high-energy cardio intervals mixed with strength training exercises.
Floor, Core & More | All levels This class will provide exercises that help you strengthen and tone the whole body while including appropriate stretches to increase flexibility. Various equipment will be used. Sneakers required.
Functional Fitness | All Levels This class will blend weightlifting with high intensity interval training to improve your overall strength and fitness. The aim is to improve your strength for everyday activities. Great for athletes and anyone looking to get fit! Sneakers required.
Functional Pilates | All levels Functional Pilates is a type of Pilates class that focuses on exercises that mimic the movements you use in your daily life. The goal is to improve your body’s ability to move correctly and efficiently, which can help reduce the risk of injury.
Gentle Yoga | All levels This class gently will move your whole body through a complete series of yoga poses to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. Sneakers optional
Glide and Tone | All levels This class will use gliders which you put your foot on and move on the floor for cardio workout. Pilate’s circles will be used for toning. Chair compatible. Sneakers required.
Hard Core High Intensity, High Repetitions, High Adrenaline. Challenge your cardio and muscular endurance limits.
Hatha Yoga | All levels This class can be described as a set of willful and active practices that aim to achieve harmony and balance in the mind, body, and spirit. This approach to yoga is often called “the forceful path” and includes the practice of physical postures and breathing techniques. Sneakers optional.
HIIT | Int-Adv HIIT is a rigorous interval training sequence with high-intensity exercises. HIIT gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time. This is a total body workout with lots of burn
HIIT Cardio Kickboxing | All levels Cardio kickboxing is a form of martial arts that involves punches and kicks at four contact points; the two hands and feet. Kickboxing is a good form of cardiovascular exercise and has been shown to improve participants’ VO2 max and decrease resting heart rate. Sneakers required. Sneakers required.
HIIT Kickboxing | Int-Adv This class utilizes conditioning drills, timed shadow boxing rounds, partner drills and of course, HIIT! It’s designed to burn calories, strengthen the core, build new muscle, relieve stress and learn a thing or two about throwing punches and kicks. Gloves are not required, but are welcome. Sneakers required.
Kick and Tone | Int-Adv This class is a form of martial arts that involves punches and kicks at four contact points; the two hands and feet. Kickboxing Bootcamp | Int-Adv Kickboxing is a martial art inspired group fitness format that is both heart-pumping and exhilarating. Using punches and kicks from disciplines such as karate, Muay Thai, and traditional boxing, group fitness participants worldwide have fallen in love with this class format with boot camp style strength-building exercises. Sneakers required.
Pilates | All levels Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. Sneakers optional.
Power Yoga | All levels Release stress, increase flexibility and build strength while moving at a steady pace through yoga postures.
Pure Strength Work your muscles in every way possible. Designed to build strength, add definition, increase your bone density and decrease your body fat by increasing your lean muscle.
Restorative Stretching | All levels This class is focused on spending time in various poses, with the purpose of flexibility and relaxation. Chair compatible. Sneakers optional.
RPM | Int-Adv Experience the ride of your life! RPM™ is a fun, athletic, cardiovascular cycling workout. Set to a jamming soundtrack RPM™, is known by devotees as “the rock concert on wheels”. Great for men and women of all fitness levels. Don’t forget your towel and water bottle.
RPM/BodyPump Fusion | Int-Adv This class will combine the fun, athletic and cardiovascular training of cycling with strength workout of BODYPUMP™. This class will provide 30 minutes of cycling and 30 minutes of strength training including abs at the end. The total body workout! Please bring a mat. Cycling or sneakers required. Sneakers required for the strength portion of the class.
RPM | BodyBalance Blend | Int-Adv This class combines cardio of RPM™ and the flexibility, hip openers and core benefits of BodyBalance.
Silver Sneakers Classic | All Levels Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and Silver Sneaker balls are offered for resistance.
Silver Sneakers Circuit | All Levels Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers™ ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. Sneakers required.
Step N Kick | Int-Adv Both step aerobics and cardio kickboxing provide a full-body workout. Step aerobics focuses on your legs, glutes, and core, while cardio kickboxing targets your arms, shoulders, and abs. Combining these two workouts allows you to get a full-body workout that will tone and strengthen your muscles. Sneakers required.
Strong Nation | Int-Adv STRONG Nation™ combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every move.
Tabata | Adv Very intense form of interval training. Short bursts of cardiovascular drills combined with strength exercises. Great for athletes and those wanting a challenge!
Tabata Boot Camp Designed for MAXIMUM calorie burn in the shortest amount of time. Combines strength, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility and core. Get fit; get healthy.
Tabata Boxing Classic Tabata interval training which alternates between short, high intensity work intervals and rest. Basic boxing skills are used in this dynamic workout.
Tabata and Tabata HIIT | Int-Adv Very intense form of interval training! Short bursts of cardiovascular drills combined with strength exercises done to failure. Great for athletes and individuals who are looking for a challenge! Don’t forget your towel, water and yoga mat. Sneakers required.
Tai Chi | All levels Tai chi is a series of gentle physical exercises and stretches. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Tai chi is sometimes described as meditation in motion because it promotes serenity through gentle movements —connecting the mind and body. Sneakers required.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga A sequence of yoga postures pieced together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. The variety of yoga poses help develop a mind/body awareness.
Walk N Tone | All levels This class is a combination of walking and strength training that provides cardiovascular benefits and boosts metabolism. The class typically starts with low-impact walking followed by muscle sculpting exercises. Sneakers required.
Yoga | All levels This class will gently move your whole body through a complete series of yoga poses to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. Sneakers optional.
Zumba | All levels This class is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba® routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — to help improve cardiovascular fitness. Sneakers or Zumba shoes required.
Zumba Gold | All levels Zumba Gold™ This class is modified Zumba. This class recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. How It Works. The design of the class introduces easy-to follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Sneakers or Zumba shoes required.
Zumba Toning | All levels We provide 1 and 2.5 lb sand-filled toning sticks for a safe effective total body toning workout! No previous dance or Zumba class experience is necessary.
Zumba Gold Toning We provide 1 and 2.5 lb sand-filled toning sticks for a safe effective total body toning workout for our active older adults, seniors, beginners or anyone needing modification in their exercise routine.
LES MILLS™ CLASSES | 16 YRS+
Great music and passionate instructors inspire exhilarating workouts. Each class is choreographed to music. Please do not enter the class 5 minutes after scheduled start time for safety reasons.
BodyBalance™ | All levels a new generation yoga class that will improve your mind, your body, and your life. You can expect to bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves, elements of Tai Chi and Pilates, while an inspiring soundtrack plays in the background.
BodyPump™ | All levels This is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP™ gives you a total body workout. It will burn up to 540 calories. Sneakers required.
