Why I support the North Penn YMCA
“The principles promoted by the YMCA mirror my own and, in fact, when I was 35 I told my mother that if anything ever happened to me I’d like my kids to attend summer camp at the Y. My first experience with the Lansdale branch was when we lived just a few blocks away. I grew up on the water in a sailing family and knew that my son needed to learn to swim. The logical place to take him was to the Y, so at 18 months we signed him up for “Water Babies.” After adjusting to getting his face wet he had a grand time! It was a natural after those “babies” were grown and I had more free time to volunteer for the Y. The staff and other volunteers I’ve worked with over the past nine years have become one of my favorite social circles and the roles we play in planning for the future stability of the organization are very satisfying. Knowing that pre-teens in particular have a safe and active place to go where they receive guidance and support is something that makes me very proud of the organization I serve. At every phase of life there is something there for everyone!”
